YRC offers vocal lessons for students of all ages, and in all styles. Vocal lessons include an emphasis on using the correct technique for the style of song being performed. YRC teachers specialise in particular styles - you can learn classical, popular, country, jazz or aspects of all these styles. Many of our vocal students study from musical theatre repertoire.

I’m Judy, a vocal and piano/keyboard tutor. I love working with students of all ages to help them find their voice and bring out their own passion for music. I have been performing for many years in musical theatre, bands playing everything from jazz, funk, R & B, musical theatre to pop and rock, and performing these styles solo on vocals and keyboard. I believe everyone’s life is richer with music in it. Where there is joy in singing and playing, there is joy in listening!

  • Emily Brooker

YRC studios, Young Young Public School

I’m Emily, a piano, vocal and violin/viola tutor. I love working with choirs and ensembles, and believe that playing or singing with other people is a wonderful way to share music with our community. Great for the music makers and the listeners! My favourite part of the YRC year is the annual musical (look our for Alice in 2022!). I play Irish fiddle, classical and pop piano, and happily sing musical theatre, folk, pop and indie rock! I delight in the mathematical precision of the circle of fifths, and believe that music theory makes life better.

Hi there, I am an experienced performer who has played multiple instruments on both national and international stages including those in New Zealand, Australia, America, Germany, and United Kingdom. I have also worked extensively with local and internationally based choirs, instrumental ensembles, and soloists as a conductor in New Zealand and Australia.

I have always had a focus on regional and remote music making having grown up on farms in New Zealand where musical opportunities were really life giving. After leaving the professional performance circuit as a singer in 2009, I began work at the Young Regional Conservatorium as a studio music practitioner where I now teach Voice, Brass, school band programs and Piano. During this time, it has been a delight to help students reach their desired musical aspirations such as CD launches; touring longevity; professional and semi-professional performance careers; and exam or audition success.

I am currently undertaking a PhD in music education through the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at University of Sydney with the hope of strengthening and supporting regional, rural, and remote music education in NSW.

The love of singing & performing has been a part of my life since I was a little child. I am a vocalist and performer with 23 years’ experience as a soloist, band member and session singer. Having paid my dues as a professional singer, regularly touring northwest New South Wales, the ACT, and Southeast Queensland, I have garnered experiences and knowledge that I would like to pass on about the Music Industry, stage craft, touring & performing to emerging artists.

I’ve worked in Rock bands, Pop bands and Country bands. I spent 16 years in Tamworth NSW, performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival regularly and was also fortunate to have performed on Main Stage at the Gympie Muster twice! I’ve had the privilege of performing at the closing of the Tamworth Country Music Festival as well.

I am a session singer and enjoy working in the recording studio and have a passion for musical theatre, having performed in theatrical productions with Tamworth Musical Society.

I am currently in my second year of a Bachelor of Music with a focus on Voice. I am passionate about music and want to help students unleash the performer within!
